Michael Washburn, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.Dr. Washburn is President of Washburn Consulting, a small private interest, working with forest products companies, and environmental groups supporting sustainable forestry, and corporate responsibility. He was formerly the Director of Forestry Certification program at the Yale University, School of Forestry and Environmental Studies , and previously the Associate Director of the Sustainable Forestry Partnership at the Penn State School of Forest Resources. More recently, he has served for three years as Vice-President of the Forest Stewardship Council in Washington, DC. He is also a former licensed NYS outdoor guide. John Washburn, B.S.Mr. Washburn, a retired educator, is now a freelance writer. He has been a First Aid Instructor Trainer for the American Red Cross. He was a search and recovery diver for the Iosco County Sheriff's Office, and the Michigan State Police, in Oscoda Michigan. He is a retired Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer and has instructed navigation skills for the U.S. Coast Guard, at Governors Island, New York. He currently teaches Land Navigation skills for the DEC Search Volunteer program, and for the Search and Rescue Team 5-1. He was formerly a licensed New York State Outdoor Guide.
